History and Structure

Why did we form Give Philly?

For years we have all shared the desire to do more for our communities. However, with only so much funding available, we faced challenges in achieving this goal. By working together, we are creating a new model for local nonprofits. We are partnering on various programs, sharing resources, ideas and best practices, and ultimately, maximizing our impact on our communities.

Why these six organizations?

Give Philly partners all have long histories here in Philadelphia and strong records of success. Each year we serve more than 300,000 children, families, teens and adults. We provide guidance in their daily lives, support in times of crisis, hope in times of despair, and opportunities for individuals to improve themselves and their situations daily.

How is Give Philly structured? Are you a separate and distinct non-profit organization?

We are a collective of nonprofits that is fortunate to have the support of the Philadelphia Foundation. They are serving as our fiscal agent and providing administrative support.
